GEPAC donates cash, computers to Police bodies

TORONTO, Canada — THE Guyana Police Wives Association and the Association of Former Members of the Guyana Police Force were on Saturday last the recipient of cash and computers respectively, compliments of the Guyana Ex-Police Association of Canada (GEPAC).

The presentation ceremonies took place during the monthly general meeting of GEPAC, held in the Boardroom of the Number 42 Division in Scarborough, Toronto.

Mrs. Beryl Felix, wife of Guyana’s Commissioner of Police Winston Felix, who was a recent guest of GEPAC, received the cash donation on behalf of the Police Wives Association while Past President of the Association of Former Members of the Guyana Police Force Mr. Ignatius Browne collected on behalf of that organization.

Mrs. Felix and Mr. Browne were special guests at Saturday’s meeting with both outlining the work of their respective bodies in Guyana.

Apart from being president of the Guyana Police Wives Association, Mrs. Felix pointed out that her association also plays an integral part in an Outreach Programme for the youths of Tiger Bay and some other underprivileged areas as well as Shut-ins for former policemen among others.

The cash donation is to further enhance the work of the Outreach Programme.
Mr. Browne, in his remarks, spoke of the dire need for a computer for the Association of Former Members and his plea was met with immediate action from GEPAC members. Instead of getting one computer, the association office which is situated in the compound of the Police Headquarters in Guyana, will be equipped with more than one shortly.

Both recipients expressed sincere thanks to GEPAC for the generous offers and pledged that the cash and computers will be used to the desired effects.

The presentations were made by GEPAC president John O’Dell. (Frederick Halley).
